AYAHUASCA PREPARATORY DIET

The ingestion of Ayahuasca needs to be preceded by a preparatory diet and some rules of conduct, in order to reduce psycho-physical discomfort and to prepare your body-mind to receive the Amazonian medicine in most efficient manner and with more lasting results.

There are different opinions regarding this preparatory discipline, some of them being more strict than the others. The Peruvian healing tradition, based on isolation retreats and fasting, is one of the most strict preparatory disciplines. We recommend a rather strict diet, which is nevertheless not excessively strict as to prevent you from living your ordinary urban life. Obviously, it is more difficult to follow a strict diet while being surrounded by continuous availability of all sorts of food, than it is to follow it in the silence of the jungle.

Do your best!

Two weeks before the beginning of retreat it is advisable to keep a sober lifestyle and regular sleeping schedule.
